August Update

Well, I haven't posted in a while because nothing good has happened this month really until now. To make a very long story short, I had a couple scares with this pregnancy. Every time our little baby has been strong, brave, and a fighter. He or she always has a strong heartbeat and seems to be moving all over the place having tons of fun inside mommy's belly. I can't feel any of the moving, punching, and kicking, but I have seen it and heard it a few time through ultrasounds and the Doppler.

I had another OB appointment today and everything checks out, so I earned an 'A' for week 11-12. Not much else to report at this time. Until we know if we are having a boy or a girl, we feel a little helpless with the baby talk. I'm okay with that because there is always so much to do anyway, that I can wait for a million to-dos on my list to show up in 2-3 months.

Week 8 Day 3 Ultrasound

So we had amazing news from our doctor last Tuesday (Week 8, Day 3). We had one last ultrasound until around week 18. Our little baby (embryo really) measured from head to rump exactly 8 weeks and 3 days. There was one more measurement the doctor took and that was the fluid sac around the embryo's measurement. It also matched an 8 week and 3 day old embryo. Your probably thinking, "Well, that's how it should be." You're right! It should be that way, but our doctor said those two measurements are almost never in sync. I thought to myself right then what a "perfect" baby we have made.

Everything is A-Okay with mommy and baby and daddy is going wonderful too. That's all the updates for now. Oh...still no morning sickness which is a God send. Thank you, Lord, for that.

P.S. The baby this week (Week 9) has graduated already. Can you believe we had a graduation already with this child? Baby graduated from an embryo to a fetus...YAY!!! Also, baby is the size of a green olive and growing like crazy. Apparently it also has all its body parts and knows if it is a boy or a girl, but mommy and daddy won't know for many weeks to come.

1st Ultrasound

This morning was our very first ultrasound. I have to admit that knowing I'm pregnant has made me feel dumber because I have to learn about something entirely unfamiliar to me. Sure I've heard from friends tons of pregnancy facts over the years, but nothing could prepare me for the physical and emotional feelings that come with being pregnant.

At 7:30am this morning, on hubby's first vacation day, we entered the doctor's office. When the doctor came in he immediately got to calculating the due date. I'm way ahead of him and have a pregnancy tracker app on my iTouch so I've known for a couple of weeks. Get ready to pencil (no pen or marker yet) that the newest member to our family will have March 5, 2011 as his or her birthday.

Hubby and I have a million thoughts running thru our minds about when I'm going to have to take maternity leave, if I'll be able to go back to work before the school year ends, blah, blah, blah. The answer is this baby has beautiful timing already. If I can work right up to my due date give or take a day, then I should have exactly enough leave time to make it into summer break.

I've posted the three sonogram photos we were given. I'll inform you that the dark circular area in the two close up pics is the yolk sac (not the head). Hey, again, if you didn't know better you would think it was the head right? Tell us if you thought it was the head. The whitish small linear area under the yolk sac is the baby. We most have watched its teeny tiny heart beat for five minutes. Its just a quick little flicker on the monitor. I asked what week we should be able to hear the heartbeat, and he replied that seeing it is better than hearing it actually.
